The Shark Bite course runs adjacent to Norman’s original 18-hole Championship Course on the banks of The Potomac River and historic Goose Creek. The par-32 course is longer and more challenging than most traditional 9 hole offerings, measuring 2,319 yards from the back tees with a mix of par 3’s and 4’s (five par 4’s and four par 3’s) ranging in length from 420 yards (No. 9) to 144 yards (No. 2). The layout is designed as a scaled back version of the 18-hole course. Norman used the natural lay of the land to create green complexes with bunkering and contouring to match the full length course.

Shark Bite is long enough to present a challenge to any experienced golfers looking for a quick round. The course was also designed to be fun and enjoyable for families and junior golfers. With five sets of tees, ranging from 2,319 to 1,674 yards all the way down to junior tees at 1,216 and 860 yards, we expect to see a wide range of people enjoying Shark Bite.

Designed by the legendary Greg Norman, our new Norman Course presents golfers with a stunning setting for a championship game. The design incorporates the natural undulations of the Potomac River Valley, using Norman’s “Least Disturbance Approach.” The front nine runs east along the Potomac River, parallel to Nos. 16, 17 and 18 of the RTJ II course, while the back nine comes west along the river towards Goose Creek.

The last four holes measure exactly 1,760 yards—equal to one mile—creating, according to Norman, “the hardest mile in golf.” Although it has the capabilities to host a major championship, the course is enjoyable for players of varied skill levels, with multiple sets of tees so as not to overwhelm the everyday golfer.

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club at Colonial Williamsburg Resort – The Gold Course

Designed by famed architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., the Gold Course offers what great golf courses should: a spectacular setting with plenty of risk/reward decisions. Jones called it his “finest design.” The Gold Course’s 16th and 17th holes are counted among the “Top 500 Golf Holes in the World” by GOLF Magazine.

Par from the championship tee is 71 over the 6,817-yard course. Seven holes pose water hazards. The longest par-5, the 15th, measures 634 yards from the championship tee. The shortest hole, the par-3 16th hole, plays without a fairway to an unforgettable island green. Listed in “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest, the Gold Course was the site of the 2007 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. You’ll never forget this breathtaking course, where every hole is a lush symphony of green serenity, and every swing will remain with you, long after you’ve holed the last green.

Golden Horseshoe Golf Club at Colonial Williamsburg Resort – The Green Course

Who better to create the Golden Horseshoe’s Green Course than Robert Trent Jones’s son Rees, a brilliant designer heralded by many as the “Open Doctor” for his seven U.S. Open designs? Rees took his father’s lead in designing the Green Course to the landscape, giving it rolling fairways carved from majestic woods. According to Jones, “The course defines the shot, but gives the player several options. It’s a shotmaker’s course.”

Offering fairways and rough carved from 20 acres of mature woodland, the Green Course is a par-72 from the championship tees and measures more than 7,120 yards in length. Water comes into play on six holes, with two played over water and four with lateral hazards. It’s challenging enough to have served as the site of the 2004 U.S. Women’s Public Links Championship.
